Veteran of the horde ii2/14/2023 One of the trains had a minia ture camera mounted on its locomotive, enabling patrons to get a trains-eye view of the model layout on a closed circuit on screens sprinkled throughout the venue. with its railroad theme the big attraction on the concourse was a state-of-the-art model train set. As part owner of Lionel Trains, Young provided this year's H.O.R.D.E. Much earlier in the day, a few hundred early-arriving ticket holders were treated to an unannounced acoustic set by Young, performing on a tiny side stage. The band played "Cinnamon Girl" and "Like a Hurricane," recent staples such as "Slip Away," and, during a brief acoustic interlude, a lovely version of "Helpless." On extended electric passages, Young did his guitar-wrestling thing, stomping around like a man with a stiff back trying to put out a hotfoot. Using vintage amplifiers cranked up to excruciating levels, Crazy Horse is often prone to technical troubles, but Friday its electric rumble was formidably honed. While plenty of folks wandered the grounds during the other main-stage acts, Young had the rapt attention of his hometown crowd for the duration of his 90-minute headlining set.
